Ariane Thomas, Psy.D is a licensed clinical psychologist who has served Philadelphia and surrounding communities for over two decades. Ariane now integrates her expertise in psychology and law to help lawyers navigate challenges and make informed choices. She also provides stress management training, equipping legal professionals with psychological insights and practical well-being strategies.
Ariane is a Lecturer in Educational Practice and Director of the Professional Counseling program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. In her role, she advises educational leadership programs on well-being and facilitates affinity groups for students and staff. She has also taught courses such as Counseling Ethics and Professional Principles, Internship Seminar, and Feminist Therapy.
In her private psychotherapy practice, Ariane works with high-performing professionals facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, racial stress, and racial identity development. She also dedicates part of her practice to providing cost-free treatment for military veterans with trauma disorders and other mental health issues through the organization Give an Hour.
Ariane earned a B.S. in Spanish from Georgetown University before working in community mental health. Ariane later obtained her Psy.D. from Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology while simultaneously earning a J.D. from Widener University School of Law (now Delaware Law School). Under the mentorship of Dr. Amiram Elwork, she deepened her understanding of the many intersections between psychology and law, particularly as they pertain to stress management for legal professionals.
