Ami spent over two decades in private practice representing lenders and borrowers in complex financing transactions, including subscription credit facilities for private funds, acquisition financings and private placements, and was recognized for many years by Chambers as a leading Illinois banking and finance lawyer.
After spending her first year of practice at Dickinson Wright in Detroit, Ami joined the Chicago office of Mayer Brown, where she made partner, served for a decade on the Chicago office’s recruiting committee, was a member of the firm’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, and also spent two years as the firm’s Partner for Associate Career Development. As the Partner for Associate Career Development, she assisted with the development and implementation of a competencies-based evaluation system, coordinated new associate integration, provided one-on-one career counseling, developed and facilitated firm-wide career development presentations and helped coordinate outreach efforts for diverse law students. Ami was most recently a partner in the Washington, DC office of Schiff Hardin.
Ami earned a BSBA and an MBA from The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business through a specialized joint degree program and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School.
Ami is a member of the International Coach Federation and has completed the NeuroLeadership Institute’s Brain-Based Conversation Skills course. She is a certified Mental Health First Aider.
Ami serves on the Board of Directors of the National Veterans Leadership Foundation and the Dean’s Advisory Council of The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, and she is a past member of and currently serves as a special advisor to a committee of the Board of Directors of Washington Performing Arts. She is also a member of the National Black MBA Association and the Greater Washington Area Chapter, Women Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association.
